Portrait of Lam Thuy Vo at a ceramics studio

I'm Lam, a ceramicist, pottery educator, and occasional fiber artist.

For me, craft is about embedding joy in objects and understanding how they fit into everyday life. A reporter by day, I'm drawn to people's stories and I love tailoring pieces to their recipients. I've made cat water fountains and bird baths for animal lovers, built family traditions and experiences into objects, and created culturally specific work — like dinnerware and altar pieces — for friends and family honoring their heritage.

For the past several years, I've also taught craft workshops and classes that blend technical skill with contemporary and historical cultural context. I've led multi-week pottery courses and built specialized programming around subjects like dinnerware, teaware, indigo, and visible mending. As a volunteer, I've created and hosted events ranging from fiber arts meetups and flower arrangment classes to ceramics sales with potters of color.
